Jeep Commander Model Years

The Jeep Commander was first introduced as the Liberty’s counterpart. The Commander was a third-row SUV that, despite having a whole extra row, wasn’t that much longer than the Cherokee. The Commander was immediately popular for its rugged, boxy look and easy off-road abilities. There were various upgrades available that allowed for safe, fun off-roading, like the addition of skid plates or lowered suspension for towing capabilities. Almost all of the Jeep Commander models came standard with powerful V8 engines, some of them even being Hemis and giving off that signature roar. In 2006, the popularity of the Commander was soaring. Unfortunately, its popularity started to slowly drop, and the model was permanently discontinued back in 2011. However, despite it being no longer on the production line, the Commanders’ strong influence is still felt in Jeeps today.
